UZH Research Connect – Terms and Conditions
Online Surveys on UZH Research Connect
The invitation email contains a direct link to the surveys. The following rules apply; responsibility for ensuring compliance with these rules lies with the researcher who is conducting the study:
• For each study, a specific number of registered participants will receive an invitation via email. Only invited participants are eligible to take part in the study; forwarding the survey link is permitted only if explicitly requested in the corresponding study description.
• The invitation contains all relevant information regarding the content and conduct of the study, as well as contact information for those responsible for the study. To ensure informed consent, information regarding data protection and any approvals from an ethics committee is provided at the beginning of the study.
• The invitation to participate in the study specifies whether compensation is provided for participation. Participants may receive various forms of compensation for their participation, as defined by the study leadership (e.g., an amount in CHF, entry into a raffle).
UZH Research Connect: Rights and Obligations of Prospective Study Participants
Prospective study participants are individuals whose contact information and other details are stored in UZH Research Connect so that they can be contacted about participating in specific studies. The following rights and obligations apply to these individuals:
• Every person in UZH Research Connect has a personal, password-protected profile in the pool that shows which of their data is stored. Students give their consent to be contacted for specific individual studies upon enrollment. Other UZH employees give their consent as part of the invitation to participate in UZH Research Connect.
• You are required to provide truthful personal information when creating your profile and not to register multiple times for the same pool.
• To ensure data security, you are required not to share your profile login credentials with third parties.
• You can access your account and exercise your data subject rights, which include, in particular, the ability to pause or permanently delete your account at any time so that you no longer receive study invitations.
• Participation slots for individual studies are limited; there is no right to participate in a specific individual study.
• Your identifying information (name, email address) is never shared with researchers.
• The data collected in the individual studies is scientifically analyzed by the researchers who use UZH Research Connect for recruitment. It is not stored on this platform. The respective study director is responsible for processing this data in compliance with data protection regulations and for providing you with information regarding this.
• If you believe that researchers who have contacted prospective participants for individual studies have breached their obligations with regard to the points mentioned above, please contact research-connect@dsi.uzh.ch
• If you violate the obligations listed above or if other reasons arise that are incompatible with participation in UZH Research Connect, you may be excluded from
UZH Research Connect. You would then no longer receive any invitations, and your profile will be deleted. The pool profile will also be deleted if the person’s contact information is out of date and contact can therefore no longer be established.
• Prospective study participants may request the complete deletion of their data from UZH Research Connect at any time. This request can be made with every new request for study participation.
If you have any questions, please contact research-connect@dsi.uzh.ch
